pumpkin queen

i had a really great halloween.... i carved pumpkins all day, munched and sat around in my pjs until the sun set... then we walked around town, came home and watched nightmare before christmas :)
i feel a bit drowsy because i left the heater on last night... but another cup of coffee and shower will fix that... and then maybe a trip to goodwill

sometimes i find it hard to not feel the pressures of succeeding as an individual... but i am happy and i think that counts for more than society teaches us. really i think if we all lived as one living organism the planet may have a brighter future... but i'm not giving up... just reminding myself that i can do more...

The shirt is fabulous.

I LOVE the pumpkins!! How cute! I cut up, peeled, & boiled an entire pumpkin, then made two pies & soup out of a fraction of it. Now I have like 15 lbs of cooked pumpkin staring at me every time I open the fridge.

Happiness is a gift we don't always posses. Joy is a choice.

You look like a incredible in the 2nd & 3rd shot...GORGEOUS!

You're right you know Sabella, it's more important to be happy. How many times do you see people who have everything they could ever want or need (i.e. movie stars) yet they are the most miserable.

Happiness comes from within, it's a choice...more often than not it's NOT money!! Keep moving forward, you're definitely on the right track!

oops, I forgot to re-read my comment before I posted it, I was going to say you look like a movie star & then changed it & was supposed to put,

"You look incredible!"LOL

Anyways, it's ALL true!

sooo sleek streetstyle-urban look! brilliantly-colored blouse print pattern, pseudo remarkably resembles stained-glass window (up close, zoomed in...) somewhat, providing wondrous colorburst to contrast mostly monochromatic outfit! sooo brilliantly coool!!! :) <333 xoxo

that last statement was poignant and so spot on. i've been thinking the exact same thing for so long i thought i was the only one who cared.

and i'm impressed with your pumpkin carving abilities. i usually end up cutting myself more than the pumpkin so i've officially given up.

first of all- yes, you look great. i especially love the shirt and booties. but i could have never matched them as well as you did!
second- you are right about pressures society imposes upon us. i've been thinking about it lately and it is ridiculous. we don't need to please any one else cause after all we are born alone and we die alone, so the most important thing, as you say, is simply to be happy with yourself.

Do you ever have a bad outfit? Of course not! Such a good look. And the pumpkins are pretty great. :)

I do believe that happiness should count for a lot more. It's hard to balance everything out all of time and still try and reach out further to do amazing things. This is actually something I've been thinking a lot about. In "modern Western" society there is so much pressure to be an individual and to be "worth" something. If we could all realize how connected we are to one another and how we can live with joy without all of the things we're told we need...I imagine the world would be an amazingly beautiful place (more so than it is now).

Kimberellie said...

oh gosh you are beautiful. and that shirt is beautiful. and these pictures are beautiful. and the third pic of you is model (better than model) gorgeous.

ps, this sentence:

"sometimes i find it hard to not feel the pressures of succeeding as an individual... but i am happy and i think that counts for more than society teaches us."

I feel that way exactly...I don't know if I can exactly be called a success at anything in particular...but I do think I can be called a success at life in general (ie. I am happy too!)

you're awesome.

we need to go back to communal living where we all live close to family/friends and help each other out. i don't like the separation that has happened in the world, seeing as we are all one anyway.

love your blouse and your boots=yummy!

The pursuit of happiness. It's easy to go about it the wrong way. I wish more people would realize that it comes from within not without

Sucess - Part 1 (of 2)

sabella, must give further props on a couple significant fronts. first, your pumpkin carving is quite amazingly artistic (honestly, how many did you mess up on in the process!?,:D), seemingly reflective of your inherently wondrous creative nature. :)

secondly, your occasional sharing of some of your deepest thoughts seems indicative of one with a most lovely blossoming soul! & witness jus' how it's initiated an amazing response & ongoing cyber conversation! luv it!!! :)

in spirit of said conversation, feel kinda compelled to share passages from couple amazing books (part 2). however, jus' prior to doin' so, a sharing of an excerpt from a beloved young local tv personality posted jus' today on her blog:

Surrendering to God’s Plan
Posted on November 4, 2010 by Tonia Bendickson
MATTHEWS, NC (2:47am) – I can’t sleep. I’ve been thinking for days about how to share this news with you, about how what’s happening to me might help you… and in the middle of the night, it hit me.

Some decisions in life take courage, others take sacrifice – and some are all about surrender.

In September, I ended my 10-year-long career at WBTV News 3. I’ve got two beautiful little boys at home, age 6 and 3 – and I was missing too much time with them. Their amazing father had the blessing of reading to them, and tucking them into bed each night. For years, I told myself it was more than enough. But I missed too many “firsts” at home – and I knew I was sacrificing my children on the altar of success.

And that was only the beginning of my idol-worship. Success, ambition, pride, independence – I clung to these ideals and believed these were the things that would bring me the joy, happiness, and security I was longing for. Pastor Steven Furtick’s message in October, “Scarecrow in a Melon Patch” broke down for me and so many others how we can take something good, and put it in the place of God.

Today, my goals look much different than they did when I started my career in television news. Success now is being joyful no matter how messy my house is – Ambition now is about teaching kindness to my boys – I’m working to kick my pride to the curb entirely, choosing humility instead – and independence I’m realizing was such an illusion anyway. Every breath I take is a blessing given to me by my creator. I am a totally dependent creature. We all are.

(to be cont.)
